US actor Paul Reubens, who got here to fame within the Nineteen Eighties as youngsters’s TV star Pee-wee Herman, has died.
The 70-year-old died in a single day after a six-year battle with most cancers, his workforce stated on Monday.
A press release describing Reubens as an “iconic American actor, comedian, writer and producer” was posted to his Facebook account.
It stated: “Last night we said farewell to Paul Reubens, an iconic American actor, comedian, writer and producer whose beloved character Pee-wee Herman delighted generations of children and adults with his positivity, whimsy and belief in the importance of kindness.
“Paul bravely and privately fought most cancers for years along with his trademark tenacity and wit. A gifted and prolific expertise, he’ll ceaselessly dwell within the comedy pantheon and in our hearts as a treasured pal and man of exceptional character and generosity of spirit.”
In an extra publish on his Instagram web page, the actor is quoted apologising for “not going public with what I’ve been facing over the last six years”.
“I have always felt a huge amount of love and respect from my friends, fans and supporters. I have loved you all so much and enjoyed making art for you,” he was quoted saying.
Pee-Wee Herman was a nerdy character who wore a gray swimsuit and purple bow tie whereas delighting youngsters along with his distinctive “heh heh heh” giggle.
