Looters armed with bear spray steal $100,000 value of luxurious items from Los Angeles buying centre

A bunch of as much as 50 folks, armed with bear spray, looted round $100,000 (£78,000) value of luxurious objects from a buying centre in Los Angeles, officers have mentioned.

The group descended on the Westfield Topanga Mall in Woodland Hills and took off with stashes of luxurious purses and high-end clothes after stunning safety guards with animal spray, Los Angeles Police mentioned.

In a video circulating on social media, folks sporting hoods and masks tear down cabinets and run out of the store carrying the stolen items.

The aftermath confirmed damaged glass and cabinets on the bottom.

Police have been alerted to the incident after a name reporting “numerous persons shoplifting”.

They estimated the loss at $60,000 to $100,000 (£47,000 to £78,000).

There was no fast data on the variety of arrests made or on the situation of the 2 guards who have been shocked with bear spray.

Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass known as the theft “absolutely unacceptable”.

“Those who committed these acts and acts like it in neighbouring areas must be held accountable,” she mentioned in an announcement on Saturday.

“The Los Angeles Police Department will continue to work to not only find those responsible for this incident, but to prevent these attacks on retailers from happening in the future.”

The incident follows an analogous theft at a Yves Saint Laurent retailer in close by Glendale, NBC Los Angeles reported.

The loss there was estimated at $300,000 (£236,000).
