Welsh comic Rhod Gilbert has obtained his first clear most cancers scan after present process therapy.

Gilbert, 55, introduced in July he had cancer and underwent surgical procedure for metastatic most cancers of the top and neck, adopted by classes of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

He was handled on the Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff, the place he had been a fundraising patron for a decade earlier than his analysis.

In an interview with Radio Times, he mentioned discovering his most cancers hadn’t unfold was “the best day of my life”.

“I was back on the road earlier this year, I got a call to say my latest scan had shown the cancer was in the areas they knew about, but it wasn’t in my lungs or my brain,” he mentioned.

The news was later adopted by his first clear scan, to which Gilbert mentioned: “The best thing was that the tumour had gone, and it was once again an ordinary blood vessel.”

Gilbert has made a documentary about his expertise with most cancers, which he approached a TV crew about days earlier than his therapy was as a result of start.

“I was lying in bed on the Friday, with my treatment due to start the following Monday,” he mentioned.

“I rang the group I knew – there was no broadcaster on board, it was all on spec – and I requested, ‘How would you fancy becoming a member of me on this journey?’

“It was partly for me. I’d cancelled all my TV work and tours, and I wished to have one thing aside from ‘most cancers’ in my diary.

“I knew I would not be nicely sufficient to go on stage or TV, however I assumed I is likely to be nicely sufficient to lie in mattress and speak to a documentary group about how sick I used to be.

“I thought, ‘It will give me something to do’.”

Gilbert mentioned the therapy meant he “wasn’t well enough even to read or watch television”.
