A suspicious powder found within the West Wing of the White House has been confirmed as cocaine in a preliminary check, two legislation enforcement officers stated.

The White House was briefly evacuated on Sunday night whereas President Joe Biden was at Camp David after Secret Service brokers found the powder.

The brokers had been doing routine rounds on Sunday once they discovered the white powder in a West Wing space accessible to tour teams, the officers anonymously advised the Associated Press.

The West Wing is connected to the chief mansion the place the president lives and consists of the Oval Office, cupboard

The powder was present in a standard space and never in any explicit workplace, the officers stated.

The Washington Post has reported that the hearth division recognized the white powder as being cocaine.

A recording of a dispatch name made at 8:49pm native time on Sunday reveals a firefighter saying: “We have a yellow bar stating cocaine hydrochloride.”

The White House was quickly reopened after it was evacuated and the powder was despatched for additional testing.

“The item was sent for further evaluation and an investigation into the cause and manner of how it entered the White House is pending,” the Secret Service stated.

Mr Biden and his household left for Camp David on Friday and returned to the White House on Tuesday.
